This Week at Placentino: April 22 – 26

We were all happy to greet our students as they returned to school yesterday.  After an emotional and difficult spring vacation week getting back to the routines of the school day was a welcome relief.

The “Word of the Week” this week is “CARE.”  During Monday Morning announcements we reviewed what each of the letters in CARE stand for at Placentino.  C – Cooperation, A-Acceptance, R-Responsibility and E-Effort.

Many of you are aware that after many years of service to Holliston’s children our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Stewart, is retiring at the end of this school year.  During the last few weeks an Assistant Principal Search Committee completed screening and interviewing several excellent candidates to fill the Assistant Principal position.

It is my pleasure to announce that Mrs. Susan Gleason will be joining us at Placentino as the Assistant Principal beginning on July 1st.  Mrs. Gleason’s background includes teaching Kindergarten and Grade Two for the Newton Public Schools.  More recently she has been the Director for Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development for Holbrook Schools.  I feel that Mrs. Gleason’s background in early childhood education, her connections with students and families and her experience in curriculum and instruction will make her an excellent addition to our Placentino family.  I know you join me in welcoming her to our school!

Our Grade Two and Montessori 6-8 students will be headed out to the “Native American Trail” on Wednesday and Thursday this week.  This is always a highlight of the year for our students.  Thank-you to all of our parents who have volunteered to participate in this memorable Native American Trail experience.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Weene
