This Week at Placentino: February 11-15

Welcome back after a very, very snowy long weekend!  I hope that all of our Placentino families were able to safely shovel out and enjoy yesterday – a beautiful sunny, snowy Sunday!

My “Word of the Week” this week is kindness.  During Monday Morning Announcements I mentioned to the children that Valentine’s Day is on Thursday and that makes me think about “hearts” and being kind to everyone.  I reminded the children that the letter “A” in our word CARE stands for acceptance – being kind to everyone, and that the snowman in our Atrium is filling up with snowballs as the children bring in their donations for the Holliston Food Pantry Shelf – an act of kindness and friendship.  Our next Food Pantry Day is on Thursday of this week.

Please remember that all Valentine’s Day cards that come into our classrooms must be “candy and sweet treat free” and should be appropriate for young children.  Thank-you!

We will be celebrating the 100th Day of School (the actual day is Wednesday) with an all-school gathering in the cafeteria on Thursday.  We’ll get together and read a story, review our CARE Pledge, and share a couple of other fun activities.  Since it’s also Valentine’s Day, I’m sure the children will be very excited about getting together with all their Placentino friends!

As you know, Sciencefest has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 9th.  Kindergarten Registration for in-coming K age students (the Class of 2026!) will be tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the Placentino cafeteria.  Please check the Placentino home page for the morning and afternoon times for registration.

Also, an important note from our Health Office…there have been several cases of head lice in a couple of our classrooms.  In a large elementary school such as ours this is not an unusual occurrence.  Please review the information regarding head lice that is posted on our Placentino homepage.  Checking your child frequently is the best way to help us stem the problems that occur when cases go undiagnosed in the classroom.  Thank-you for your attention to this.

February vacation is just around the corner!  I hope that all of our Placentino families have a fun and healthy vacation time!

Winter wishes,

Mrs. Weene
