This Week at Placentino: October 22 -26

My Word of the Week this week is “reading.”  During Monday Morning Announcements I mentioned that The HEPTSA Fall Book Fair will be at Miller School on Wednesday and Thursday this week.  Visiting the Book Fair is a terrific way to support our schools and also to add some great books to your children’s home libraries.

Halloween is coming!  Our Parents and Guardians are invited to Placentino for our annual PreK and Kindergarten Pumpkin Parade and Sing-along led by Creative Movement and Music teacher, Michelle Hastings and our teachers.  PreK and K Teachers will be sending home information regarding the AM and PM times for the classes and also our rainy day plan for the event.  Our Grade One, Two and Montessori 6-8 students are welcome to wear Halloween colors to school (it’s an orange and black day!).  There will be an afternoon assembly for them led by our School Librarian, Ellen Ahern, and music teachers, Kathy Belheumer and Christine Petersen.

Conferences for Grades One, Two and Montessori 6-8 begin on 11/1. These are 1/2 days with all Grade One, Two and Montessori 6-8 children being dismissed at 11:50. Please note:  it is a regular school day for all PreK and K children.  Please expect that our buses may be slightly earlier bringing students home at the end of the day as there will be fewer students riding the buses on Conference Days. Please check Backpack Express for details regarding the buses on these Conference Days.  Thank-you!

Check out the Placentino orchard that is located on Placentino Street across from the office.  The trees are filling up with apples that the children are “purchasing” from the CARE Cart for three CARE Cards.  The challenge is to fill each tree with at least 200 apples.  When that happens we’ll have an all school “Apple Day” celebration on an up-coming Wellness Wednesday.  Thank-you!

Hope to see you at the Book Fair!
