This Week at Placentino: October 15 – 19

Mrs. Weene’s “Word of the Week” this week is “Kindness.”  During Monday Morning announcements I reminded the children that this Thursday, October 18th, is Food Pantry Day at Placentino.  One way that children at our school can show friendship and kindness is by bringing in a paper good item (napkins, paper towels, etc.) for our friends at the Holliston Food Pantry Shelf.  Thank-you!

The HEPTSA Book Fair is coming to Miller School next week on October 24th and 25th.  This is a fundraiser for our schools and a great opportunity to purchase some books for your child’s library.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be coming soon for students in grades one, two and Montessori 6-8.  November 1st, 2nd, and 5th will be 1/2 days with all students dismissed at 11:50.  Please note:  This is a regular school day for our PreK and K students.  Please see Backpack Express for details regarding the pick-up and drop-off times for the buses on these 1/2 days.

We’ve “grown” an apple orchard at Placentino!  Children can trade in 3 CARE cards to purchase an apple for the orchard that is located in the main hallway (Placentino Street) outside the office.  I’ve challenged the children to fill each of the three trees with at least 200 apples.  When the trees are filled we’re going to celebrate as a whole school with “Apple Day’ on one of the Wellness Wednesdays in November!  Should be lots of fun (and healthy!) for all!
