I hope that our Placentino families enjoyed a wonderful holiday season and vacation time! The Placentino Office Staff says “Thank you so much!” for all of the cards, gifts and delicious holiday treats that so many of you delivered to us before vacation. The warmth and generosity of our parent community is sincerely appreciated!
The children arrived at school this morning ready and anxious to get back to work. They quickly “settled in” sharing their vacation and holiday stories with their classmates and friends. We’re off to a great start to 2011 and the challenges of the new year!
Box Tops! I wanted you to know that your efforts to support our school truly do make a difference. I just opened an envelope with a check for $2107.00 made out to Placentino School that was sent to us by General Mills as the result of our Box Tops initiative! The children love to deposit their bags of Box Tops into the box that is located near the Office. Being a Box Tops “detective” is an easy way for the entire family to get involved supporting our school. Thanks so much!
Please remember that recess time provides our students with an important opportunity to strengthen their muscles through outside movement and to socialize with friends. We try to get the children out each day even when the weather is snowy and wintry. Please send your child to school with boots, snowpants, hats and gloves so that he or she can enjoy outdoor play with classmates.
The Parent Information Open House for All Preschool Programs will be held on Wednesday evening, January 19th at 6:30 at Placentino. This Open House is for Holliston parents who are interested in enrolling their child in one of our Preschool programs at Placentino. Our programs are an excellent way to introduce your three or four year old child to a developmentally appropriate and langauge-rich preschool experience.
Looking ahead … the Parent Information Open House for all In-Coming Kindergarten Students is scheduled for Tuesday evening, January 25th, at 6:30 in the Cafetorium Your child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2011, and a Holliston resident to be eligible to attend Placentino Kindergarten next year.
Cold and flu season is upon us. Please check the Nurse’s Health Office Link on the Placentino site if you are wondering whether or not to send your child to school.
Have you checked the “Guidance Website” that is linked to the Placentino Homepage? It includes wonderful parent and student resources and helpful hints from our Guidance Counselors Anne Marie Cohen and Heather Dalton. Take a look! Stay tuned for information regarding an Open Circle Parent Workshop that will be offered soon. Details will follow.
