These last few days of frigid weather are a reminder that winter is really here! Please remember that outside, active play provides children with healthy exercise on our playgrounds and that we try to get out for recess time each day. Your child should come to school with the outerwear necessary for outside play. Hats or hoods, gloves, mittens and snowpants and warm boots when the snowy weather arrives make outside play fun and comfortable. As a note: labeling jackets, snowpants and boots helps if an item is misplaced.
First Grade News: The First Grade students have recently been having lots of fun with the Gingerbread theme. The children decorated a gingerbread person at home with their families. These gingerbread people are just wonderful! I love the creativity of the colorful displays on our classroom doors. The children have also been reading several different versions of the tale of the Gingerbread Man and having fun with extension activities in their classrooms Comparing and contrasting the different versions of the tale gives the children a terrific way to stretch their language arts and critical thinking skills.
